Introduction

We're offering another day of orienteering fun at our Robbins Butte Wildlife Area site. While this site is in the same general area as our original Robbins Butte event site, the Robbins Butte Wildlife Area is several miles east of the original site and will include a new set of navigation challenges. On Sunday, February 4, we'll present a 2-hour Score-O starting from the parking area just east of the Wildlife Area entrance road. During the event, participants have up to 2 hours to find as many destination markers as they can. We'll have both easy and difficult locations for different levels of navigation experience. The event site is adjacent to a BLM dispersed camping area, so we'll share part of the area with campers. The area is open to the public, so we just need to make sure we avoid camp sites. The terrain surrounding the start/finish is quite flat with a network of shallow drainages flowing through open desert. There aren't many prickly plants in the area, so most of the course is runnable. Parts of the course will wind into some of the Buckeye Hills surrounding the area, just to add a little variety to your navigation. We hope you'll enjoy this newest area for our club
